Body Building Tips

Body-building Tip #7 – These thoughts are designed to help members of the body at Grace to encourage one another’s faith. The Bible commands us in I Peter 4:9-10 – “Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”

For you to ponder: In Greek, the word “hospitality” is composed of two words – friend and stranger. Hospitality has come to mean befriending a stranger or showing friendship to strangers.

Tip: Have you noticed people you don’t know at Grace, people who are “strangers” to you? Perhaps inviting them to your home for a game, dinner, a snack or dessert after church or on some other night during the week would help you get to know them better.

Challenge: Hospitality takes planning and effort. Are you befriending strangers? Try it; you never know how many friendships you will develop! Learn to serve one another by showing hospitality. Be a good steward of God’s multifaceted grace.

Body-building Tip #6 – These thoughts are designed to help members of the body at Grace to encourage one another’s faith. The Bible teaches in I Th 4:9,10 – “…for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another; for indeed you do it…But we urge you brethren to excel still more.”

For you to ponder: Here at Grace we praise God for the many expressions of love we show for one another. But are you striving to “excel” in your love for those sitting around you this morning? Paul urged the Thessalonians to work at obeying this command. Loving should be a priority for us.

Tip: Love as an emotion ultimately comes from God, so we should pray that God will deepen our love for one another. Love as an action comes from the will and can take many forms. A kind word, a helping hand, a patient spirit, a listening ear, a self-sacrificing act are just a few of the many ways we can love.

Challenge: It may not be easy or convenient to love. But are you willing to ask God to help you love? Will you make a deliberate effort this week to show God’s love to someone here at Grace? Are you willing to take the challenge?
