Body-building Tip #52 – These thoughts are designed to help members of the body at Grace to encourage one another’s faith.

Col 2:1-4 “For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you, and for those of Laodicea and for all who have not seen me face to face, that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”

For you to ponder: As we conclude this year of weekly body-building tips, we need to focus on the reason why we all should “struggle” to build one another up in the faith. Questions which deserve prayerful thought include, “Is it really that important?” or, “How much should we emphasize this aspect of ministry at Grace?” and, “How successful are we in ministering to one another in matters of eternal value?”

In these verses from Colossians, Paul gives very specific reasons why building up one another should be one of our highest priorities. The reason for his great struggle is so others may grow in Christ. More specifically so that believers will “reach all the riches” and uncover the “hidden treasures” in Christ. Notice that he wants to encourage their hearts in a context of love so that they will grow in Christ.

Tip: There are riches and treasures for the body at Grace as we try to encourage one another toward growth in grace. Yes, RICHES and TREAURES! That’s right! You read it correctly. Paul isn’t referring to loose change.

Challenge: Will you ask God to give you a burden to help those around you this morning to enjoy more of the riches and treasures in Christ? Are you willing to struggle to help another believer grow in Christ? Yes, you read it correctly, struggle?
