Body-building Tip #47 – These thoughts are designed to help members of the body at Grace to encourage one another’s faith.

Eph 4:1,2 “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called,…with patience,..”

For you to ponder: Paul urges us, not based on being physically restrained in prison but being a willing captive for the Lord, to live our lives in a way that clearly shows Christ is our Lord. The third characteristic of such a life is patience. Paul tells Timothy to exhort …”with complete patience and teaching” (II Tim 4:2). The word has the idea of longsuffering especially in not trying to get even when hurt by another. Unconditional love is marked by patience (I Cor 13:4). One of the characteristics of the fruit of the Spirit is patience (Gal 5:22). And Christ is the perfect example of patience in bringing us to Himself and now daily conforming us to His image (I Tim 1:16).

Tip: The ministry of encouraging another in the faith requires patience. God may give you the opportunity to speak words of encouragement to someone who is not very receptive. The person may not seem to care or to be listening. There may be no sign of appreciation for your efforts. Even worse, your efforts may be rejected.

Challenge: Do you believe God commands us to encourage one another? Can God use your efforts in sharing Truths by the power of the Holy Spirit to strengthen a life for His glory? Will you patiently keep trying to build up others in the faith believing that God will be pleased?
