Body-building Tip #42 – These thoughts are designed to help members of the body at Grace to encourage one another’s faith.

I Th 3:1,2 & 5 “Therefore when we could bear it no longer, we were willing to be left behind at Athens alone, and we sent Timothy, our brother and God’s coworker in the Gospel of Christ, to establish and exhort you in your faith, that no one be moved by these afflictions…For this reason, when I could bear it no longer, I sent to learn about your faith, for fear that somehow the tempter had tempted you…”

For you to ponder: Twice in this passage Paul expresses his unwillingness to wait to find out how the believers in Thessalonica were doing spiritually by stating that he could “bear it no longer.” Knowing they were experiencing difficulties, he feared that their faith might fail. He feared that they would quit fighting the good fight and return to their former lifestyles. It is reasonable to assume that during the days of waiting for some word about them, Paul thought about them often and prayed earnestly for the strengthening of their faith. He just had to find out how they were doing, so he sent Timothy to encourage them in their faith.

Challenge: A prayer, “O, Lord, help me to be so concerned about the spiritual health of my brothers and sisters in Christ here at Grace that I will do whatever it takes to help keep their minds on You, the way, the truth and the life. In Jesus name, Amen”
