Body-building Tip #40 – These thoughts are designed to help members of the body at Grace to encourage one another’s faith.

I Tim 2:1-3 – “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior…”

For you to ponder: Paul encourages Timothy to pray. In fact he places a very high priority on praying for all people and especially for those in authority. We have good reason to believe that Timothy was already a man of prayer. But Paul wants to emphasize prayer for all people and by all believers. Apparently that urging was needed so that both Timothy and the people he ministered to would give prayer a higher priority in their lives.

Tip: How would you respond if someone encouraged you to pray more? To pray more earnestly? If someone wanted to join with you in developing an attitude of prayer, a “pray without ceasing” mindset? By actively praying for those around you, by letting them know you are praying for them and by sharing prayer requests and answers to prayer you can be an encouragement to the faith of others. If the only “body-building” you do is to share your faith in prayer with members here at Grace, God will use you to make a great contribution to the growth of believers here. Challenge: Paul tells us that prayer is “good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior.” What greater joy can there be than pleasing Him?
